Acts 1:8
"... but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (NASB)
Pentecost has not stopped. God is pouring out His spirit upon people who are seeking and calling out to Him, baptizing them with His Holy Spirit and with fire. We are not to back off from prayer and fasting, because it is through these that God works.
